Creative Work…
Bringing clarity to an overwhelmed mind in business and in life…
Your work isn’t just work. With that mindset all work is but a chore, some routine that we do that can have us just going with the motions. We might not know which motion our chore(s) is/are taking us but with a mindset that work is a chore we can fall victim to just doing instead of being.
I fell victim to that mindset and for the longest time I was just going with the motions. I will have to be honest and say that some of the motions that my “chore” or work took me wasn’t actually bad, but after a while that good feeling would just go right into the motion of the next move. I had the mindset that my work, my chore, was just enough to get by and one day will lead to the level I have been desiring. As the work worked me to the bones I would experience some wins here and there, but nothing was satisfying. As much as I can say I was grateful for the opportunities, it is hard to say that I was in the right mindset.
I viewed my work as a chore instead of creative work. My work was working me more than I was working the tools and resources I was blessed with. I had to make an adjustment with my mindset and know that all work is creative work. When we create we are bringing something new to the table, we are bringing value. When my work became my chore I was just doing whatever it took to please my work, my chore, so that It would move me forward. Having the mindset of all work is creative work allowed me to open my mind and use the tools and resources My God, My Yah blessed me with. I was no longer doing a chore or doing work, but I was being the work. My everyday creative work was allowing me to be who God wanted me to be.
At some point we have to take a stand with ourselves and not the world that we will bring creative work, we will bring value to the work. At some point we have to take a stand and know that what creative work God has blessed us with no chore can ever limit us to whatever it wants us to do. We have to take back our own authority over our own mindset and set it towards the right thing, We are the creative work and we bring the value every single day. God has blessed us with tools and resources that are available right now to make that right move in the right direction. It’s not that God is being silent. It’s not that our creative work is no longer creative. We have to take back our authority over our mindset and make the choice to bring the value every day. It’s hard finding time to waste when your mind is fixed on being of value instead of receiving value.
“Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” (James 2:18)
