Intentional Cultivation…
Bringing clarity to an overwhelmed mind in business and in life…
Be truthful with yourself and be truthful with your intentions. As you become truthful with yourself and your intentions begin to cultivate the process and see it grow and blossom into the desired outcome. Remember we will get the desired outcome either now or later. So, the focus isn’t on the desired outcome’s arrival, but intentionally cultivating righteously knowing the byproducts will arrive when they need to.
In all honesty the concept of intentional cultivation only became understandable less than 24hrs ago. I never put the two words together with understanding, and I haven’t created anything new. I will say that the understanding came only because I finally realized why you cultivate relationships with a purpose. I do business development consulting and I have been working specifically in the healthcare industry for 12 years. Around 7 years ago I decided to have a focus on business development consulting and began to consult with healthcare care facilities and organizations. Around that time I was introduced to a case manager at a local hospital I work with and began to build a professional relationship. Much of our conversation was done over phone, text, and email. With the occasional face to face meetings when major collaboratives were held at the hospital. As the years progressed their career took them further north of my territory, but I would still remain in contact. I never knew what the benefit would be for staying in contact with them, but I do know that cultivation relationships can pay dividends.
I finally realized and experienced the benefit of intentional cultivation, and I experienced it a few days ago. Recently I started a new contract with a healthcare facility, and the facility is a little North of the territory I was previously working in. My first day working with the healthcare facility I sent my professional colleague “The Case Manager” a message to inform them of my new contracted facility. From that connection she connects me to another case manager that is needing the facilities services. While my new facility wasn’t able to convert the business, we were able to convert the business to a sister facility. In all the facilities desired outcome was met and now we can cultivate and grow our professional relationships further together. My new facility has been looking to work more with the hospital and opportunity opened the door. While we would have loved that business, we also know there will be more opportunities. The intentional cultivation of the business relationship and partnership pays in dividends. It’s just that we don’t know when we will reap the benefits and rewards of intentionally cultivating relationships. The benefits and rewards aren’t the focus, the focus is on the intentional cultivation of relationships. Now the facility and I have the opportunity to intentionally cultivate this business relationship and grow the opportunities. Maybe it’s not that I have had some AHA moment, but maybe I am finally opening my eyes and focused on intentions…
