Deliverance or Freedom…
4th of July is upon us and for many of us our neighborhoods have been giving everyone a pre-show leading to the Big Grand Finale. It really is a nice time as the weather is nice outside, a little leftover June gloom, but the sun will burn that off soon. As I sit at home with my windows and blinds open and ready to see and hear any fireworks, I think to myself, Freedom. We all have this day here in America on the 4th of July to celebrate this countries freedom. But before the country could declare true freedom the country had to first deliver itself out of bondage, out of the mental restraint it was put under. America had to first know it deserved to be free and wanted to be delivered out of bondage so they could be set free.
Many of the battles that were fought only allowed me to be delivered from whatever was holding me back in life. I was still left with a choice; Do I choose to believe I am delivered and can make it, or Do I choose to believe I am delivered but I can’t make it. No matter the choice I am delivered from any bondage that has ever held me back in life. I am a child of God but even being a child of God doesn’t mean that I am free. I still have the power of choice and while I may be delivered from bondage, I may never be free from them, unless my mind changes. Deliverance or Freedom…
Being delivered from something is being set free or rescued. Having freedom, the power or right to act without hindrance or restraint. Just because I came out of a battle victorious doesn’t mean that I was free from whatever was trying to keep me back. I knew that I would have to go the extra mile and believe in my mind and heart that I was delivered from this bondage and that I am also set free from it. I had to believe and trust in myself that I will make the right choices that will not lead me back to those restraints that kept hindering my forward progress. I had to believe I deserved to be set free…
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
